This short webpage from the NSPCC introduces the topic of gender identity. It looks at the different types of gender identity, including transgender, non-binary and gender fluid.
The page also shares information for parents and carers and other adults in a child's life on how best to support a child who has come out as transgender or non-binary, or who is questioning their gender identity.
Advice given includes:
- how to encourage your child to explore and express their identity at their pace
- how to seek support from school
- how to get support if your child is being bullied
The page also includes information on gender dysphoria, along with advice on what to do if you're worried about an LGBTQ+ child or young person.
