Understanding neurodiversity in the context of equality and inclusive practice
A guide outlining key terms and approaches to understanding the links between neurodiversity, equality and inclusion in education settings.
This guide, written for teachers, aims to give a working knowledge of the key terms that staff need to know in order to take neurodiversity into account when practising inclusion.
The guide is intended to get teachers thinking about whether they may need further advice or professional learning.
It explains what neurodiversity and neurodivergence means, looks at examples of using the terms in practice, and explores challenges and solutions arising from neurodiversity in education settings.
The guide also signposts to a number of further resources on the topic.
