Developing a technology strategy to support staff wellbeing
A set of prompts to help inform a technology strategy that supports staff wellbeing.
This short guide from Education Support poses a set of questions for school leaders to consider when developing a technology strategy.
It looks at existing communication policies, email protocol and what steps staff are expected to take if they feel harassed by parents, students or colleagues.
In addition to these key questions, the guide offers advice and practical tips to encourage setting healthy boundaries and reduce technology intrusion in order to protect staff wellbeing.
Some of the tips suggested include:
- reminding parents and carers to respect teachers’ office hours
- prioritising the emotional wellbeing of teachers
- adopting an open-door policy during school hours for teaching staff to share their concerns
- modelling good practice.
There is signposting to further reading around this topic from a number of different organisations including the NHS and NASUWT.
This resource is also available as a downloadable poster that leaders can print and display in staff areas.
