Engaging parents and families - a toolkit for practitioners

A comprehensive toolkit to help support staff working with parents and families.

This resource is made up of 11 documents detailing the different aspects of how to promote engaging with parents and carers.

This resource was produced by Education Scotland and as such is of particular relevance for settings in Scotland. However, the key principles, information and activities could easily be adapted for settings across the UK.

The toolkit has several themes running through each section, which are:

  • Building strong, positive relationships with parents, families and communities
  • Getting it Right for Every Child (GIRFEC)
  • Equality, diversity and inclusion
  • Children’s rights and participation
  • Developing the Young Workforce (DYW)

This resource would be best used by mental health leads to evaluate the content and adapt as needed for individual settings.
