This guide is designed to help parents and carers navigate social media safely with their children. 

It aims to help them understand what children and young people may be exposed to, including content that may be harmful. It also outlines how to set boundaries, how to have conversations about what they see online, and where to go for further help. 

Staff may wish to distribute this resource to parents and carers. 

Using this resource

This resource is designed for: 

  • use by mental health leads working with students aged 11 to 19. 
  • use by staff working in  secondary schools, colleges (sixth form and FE) and special schools.
