Suicide prevention in the context of digital use and behaviours
This free webinar offers practical advice on the impact of harmful online content on student mental health.
This 50-minute long webinar addresses how harmful online content can have a negative impact on the mental health and wellbeing of students. It particularly focuses on how this could lead to suicidal thoughts and self-harm.
It provides some wider context to these issues and includes important facts and figures as well as practical guidance on how staff can address them in their setting.
The webinar looks at how education staff can best support children and young people at risk of suicide, how to educate students about suicide and how to talk about healthy and unhealthy internet use.
It also provides advice on how to react and respond to students that are experiencing suicidal thoughts and signposts to external services that can provide extra support.
This webinar is CPD accredited and attendees will be emailed their certificate after completion.

- use by mental health leads working with students aged 5 to 19+.
Learning outcomes
This resource addresses the following learning outcomes:
- Create a plan to develop, implement and sustain a whole school or college approach to mental health and wellbeing, tailored to their setting’s needs.
- Reflect on personal development needs, and put in place plans to be effective in role.
- Sustain and continually improve the approach in their setting, working effectively with peers and support networks.
