Targeted support: guidance and hub

Guidance for providing effective targeted mental wellbeing support in your school or college.

Last reviewed: 10 March 2026

This practical guidance, alongside the targeted support hub, will help education staff review, refresh and develop effective targeted support for social, emotional and mental wellbeing.

This resource is split into two sections:

  • Practical guidance on developing effective targeted support in schools or colleges, including how to identify the most appropriate type of targeted support and how to implement it successfully.
  • A targeted support hub where education staff can explore evidence-based programmes, interventions and approaches, with options to filter by outcomes, phase of education and delivery method.

Staff are encouraged to use the practical guidance (also available in PDF format) alongside the targeted support hub. Together, these resources can help staff feel more confident choosing the most effective support for students in their setting.
