About this resource
Care-experienced children and young people can face additional challenges in education. Supportive relationships and consistent environments can make a meaningful difference to their wellbeing and engagement.
This free INSET training pack helps education staff understand the needs of care-experienced students and reflect on how everyday practice can strengthen belonging. It explores common barriers and the role of education settings in providing stability and inclusion.
The resource includes a powerful film featuring young people with lived experience of the care system, alongside insights from education leaders. The film can also be used to spark discussion in shorter staff meetings.

Learning outcomes
This resource addresses the following learning outcomes:
- Facilitate development of school staff, identifying critical training and ensuring that all staff can recognise and understand the process to respond to mental health concerns.
- Signpost and increase and promote awareness of resources to support staff.
