Getting started toolkit: tackling homophobic, biphobic and transphobic bullying

Secondary

A toolkit from Stonewall for preventing and tackling homophobic, biphobic and transphobic bullying in secondary schools.

This resource belongs to the resource hub for classroom and wellbeing support.

Based on five key steps, this toolkit aims to enable secondary school staff to embed work to tackle homophobic, biphobic and transphobic bullying across your school’s policies and procedures.

The five steps are:

  1. Set the ground rules
  2. Communicate the school's approach to parents and carers
  3. Keep track of incidents
  4. Find out what's going on in school
  5. Supporting LGBTQ+ young people

Each step includes a set of tools, templates and checklists to help school staff to do this.

The toolkit will also enable school staff to measure the impact of wider
anti-bullying initiatives in the school.
