An introduction to mental health leadership
A free webinar exploring how school leaders can promote positive mental health and wellbeing.
This webinar discusses the role that school leaders can play in ensuring positive mental health and wellbeing for children, young people and staff across their setting.
The speakers include three education psychologists and a school leadership consultant. They discuss what good leadership might look like, how staff can start developing their mental health provision and share a number of helpful related resources.
The webinar also covers:
- the 8 principles to a whole school approach to mental health
- the NICE recommendations for social, emotional and mental wellbeing support in schools
- guidelines for supporting mental health in education settings.
It would be suitable for leaders working in a range of education settings and who have an interest in mental health and wellbeing. This includes headteachers, senior management teams, mental health leads, governors and special educational needs coordinators.
Using this resource
This resource is designed for:
- use by mental health leads working with students aged 5 to 19+.
Learning outcomes
This resource addresses the following learning outcomes:
- Create a plan to develop, implement and sustain a whole school or college approach to mental health and wellbeing, tailored to their setting’s needs.
- Reflect on personal development needs, and put in place plans to be effective in role.
