Building positive mental health
A range of downloadable activities for those working with young people to help build positive mental health and wellbeing.
Young Minds has produced these activities to help promote positive ways to wellbeing. They would be beneficial for mental health leads as well as any professionals working with children and young people.
Comprising of several self-care strategies, this resource is designed to help build young people’s resilience, self-esteem and confidence. It does this through focussing on their successes, strengths, talents and interests.
This resource can be adapted for a variety of different audiences, and has clear guidelines on how to use each activity in one-to-one settings or for larger groups.
Using accessible language and practical strategies, this resource aims to improve the dialogue around mental health and wellbeing between staff and young people.
These fun and easy to facilitate activities help to break down barriers and stigma around mental health. They do so by creating opportunities to talk about mental health and increase staff awareness of presenting problems.

This resource is designed for:
- use by mental health leads working with students aged 5 to 19+.
Learning outcomes
This resource addresses the following learning outcomes:
- Use their knowledge to effectively communicate a positive values-based approach, and to promote openness and understanding to normalise mental health and its fluctuations throughout life.
