Co-producing a whole-school approach with children
A toolkit to help schools involve pupils in developing a whole-school approach to mental health.
This toolkit is designed to help primary schools involve all pupils in developing a whole-school approach to mental health and wellbeing.
It includes an activity to support a discussion with pupils about:
- what wellbeing means to them
- what the school is already doing to support their mental health and wellbeing
- what could be done to develop and improve the way the school supports their mental health and wellbeing.
The activity explores who helps pupils with their feelings at school, the places in school that are good for their wellbeing, the classroom practices that support pupils’ wellbeing, and how they are asked for their views on what happens in school.
A step-by-step guide to using the activity with pupils is provided, covering how to prepare for the activity, how to deliver it, and how to use the insights gathered to inform a whole-school approach.
There is also a short video that staff can use to introduce the activity to pupils.
