This resource is designed to help staff have conversations with pupils about Islamophobia in a safe, sensitive and constructive way.  

It aims to develop staff’s confidence in discussing this issue, enable pupils to reflect on how Islamophobia manifests in contemporary society, and consider what needs to be done to challenge it. 

The resource includes plans for five structured lessons, with room in each lesson for open thinking, discussion and self-reflection. 

Using this resource

This resource is designed for: 

  • use by mental health leads working with students aged 11 to 19. 
  • use by staff working in secondary schools, colleges (sixth form and FE) and special schools. 

Learning outcomes

This resource addresses the following learning outcomes: 

  • Create a plan to develop, implement and sustain a whole school or college approach to mental health and wellbeing, tailored to their setting’s needs. 
  • Develop, with others, a cross-curricular approach to promote mental health and wellbeing.
