About this resource

This resource provides a psychoeducation session plan to accompany Living after Loss: a grief guide for young people.

It draws on lived experience and established grief theories to help students explore what grief feels like, how it can change over time and different ways of coping.

It can be used in PSHE or RSHE lessons, offering practical activities, accessible explanations of grief models and clear guidance for delivery in groups or one-to-one.

Staff are encouraged to familiarise themselves with SeeSaw’s wider resources, such as Living after Loss and the SeeSaw Schools Pack, to support confident and sensitive delivery.

Further guidance

This session plan covers sensitive topics and may bring up difficult emotions. Senior mental health leads should ensure staff feel prepared and supported before delivering the activities.

Safeguarding procedures should be followed, and appropriate onward referral pathways should be in place.
