This resource provides educators with advice and guidance on how to create a safe and supportive learning environment, through activities and discussions.

It reminds educators about safeguarding and the limits of confidentiality, as well as relevant policies to be aware of, and internal and external support pathways for pupils.

This guidance introduces essential advice on:

  • how to manage sensitive or challenging content
  • answering questions safely and appropriately
  • creating opportunities for open discussion
  • using distancing and constructive feedback techniques
  • creating a group agreement with pupils.

The resource was originally written to be used alongside British Red Cross resources, but all the advice is very adaptable and applicable to other lessons.
